Tuesday Things

For my "Heads or Tails" post... please go to my Today.com blog.

It has turned off chilly in the south. I think we're in for an early winter. My tomato, pepper and eggplant plants still have blooms on them! I'm going to cover them tonight and hope for the best. It's supposed to warm up for the rest of the week, so maybe I can get a few more pickings out of them.

Have you checked out the scavenger hunt questions on LASR's Halloween contest yet? Yesterday, Kim W. won Dark Gold by Christine Feehan, Dead Sexy by Amanda Ashley, and Sunshine by Robin McKinley. You could be today's winner ( Morning Beauty, Midnight Beast by Myrna Mackenzie, A Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison, and Retrieval by Jeanie London), but not if you don't enter.

I need to work on the interviews and spotlights for next week's LASR, so I'll bid you all a fond adieu.

1. What’s your mood today? Why do you feel this way? Would you consider yourself to be a moody person overall? When has your “moodiness” gotten you into trouble? Tell us about that incident. The past few weeks I've been.. not moody, exactly (I save my moodiness for ...oh, let's just say monthly or so hormonal changes. And then I cry at the drop of a hat)... distracted, for lack of a better term. There are changes going on in our household that in one sense will be beneficial, but in another sense will change the way I do everything. I've been content with our life as it is, so change is unsettling, to say the least.

2. How do you feel about the dentist? On a scale of 1 (terrified) to 10 (he’s like a brother to you). And, if it’s a low number … is there a reason behind your fear / loathing? Tell us a dentist story (we all have them). Can it be a negative number? I don't have a real reason for my dental phobia (and it's a real phobia....I HAD to have some dental work done and my doctor gave Valium and my dentist gave me gas... I wish he was here instead of in North Carolina).

3. If you could interview anyone, who would you interview, and what would the first question be? I interview wonderful authors all the time... check the interviews out on our interview page.

4. What did you do over the weekend? Cleaned... we've been going through Fall House Cleaning (trying to get things in wonderful shape due to the changes I mentioned in number 1)

Today's words: ache, difference, suffer

For last week's entry, click here

Jared lifted up his head and sniffed again, pinpointing with deadly accuracy the direction he needed to travel. On silent feet, he prowled through the trees, every minute bringing him closer to that which would ease the ache of hunger.

The scent of fire mingled with that of his prey heralded the glow in a clearing ahead. Jared paused and drank in the mixture of aromas. His eyes adjusted and he saw her. Her smell had drawn him earlier in hunger, but now...now there was a difference. chanel handbags

Emotions roiled and warred inside him such as he'd not felt since...becoming. Emotions he thought lost along with his humanity. Desire for more than blood; a longing to know this woman, not merely feed on her; the sure knowledge that with this woman he could know peace, and he would suffer.

Friday Meme: Food For Thought

Click on the picture to play along

If you could jump into any book … what would it be and why? I jump into books when I read them when I'm drawn into the time and setting by the author :-) But, to actually be transported to a time? Probably any of the Regencies I read, because I love that time period. Of course, I'm afraid I'd be disappointed, because I would probably not like the reality of it...but, it would be fine for a while. I wouldn't have to STAY there, right?

Tell how you are feeling today in the form of a weather report. (For example, partly cloudy, sunny with a chance for showers etc.) Fair to partly cloudy, with the expectation of things warming up later.

What activities make you lose track of time? Reading a good book, writing, bloghopping (oh, how bloghopping does!), chatting

Midnight Snack
What were you doing one hour ago? Sleeping...and yes, I was a slug-a-bug. I didn't wake up til after eight!! I couldn't believe it. But, I took a couple of Benadryl last night...maybe that's why.

Recipe for this Week (instead of your recipe for life - what is it for just this week?) Do what needs to be done first.

3 Word Wednesday

Today's words: Delicate, Jaded, Night

He sniffed the air as the delicate scent of woman filled the night. His mouth watered. It had been a long time since he fed. A long time since the sweetness had flooded his mouth and burned in his veins. His maker had long ago become jaded with the hunt, preferring to feed in easier, more comfortable surroundings; Jared, howeve, was a hunter--who prowled the edges of humanity and who enjoyed the hunt almost as much as the feeding. chanel handbags

October 13th Questions:

1.If your children are going trick-or-treating this year, what costumes are they wearing? Do you take them door-to-door or do you take them to a sponsored event? Tell us about the last time you dressed up for Halloween. How do you feel about Halloween in general My children are grown, but while they were growing up we didn't celebrate Halloween...their father was very against it. I loved Halloweeen when I was growing up. I think the last time I dressed up for Halloween was at work one year... I was a gypsy. And, I enjoy Halloween...one of my kids (I think to make up for the fact she was never allowed to enjoy it when she was a little one) goes all out for Halloween...and I'm glad to see it.

2.Do your friends and family read your blog? How does this knowledge affect your writing? Do you feel like you can totally be yourself on your blog? Where do you draw the line when it comes to disclosing too much about your life on your blog? I know some of my friends read my blog. And the family does some. And, I tend to be completely myself all the time, chanel handbags whether I'm here or anywhere else. Pretty much, what you see (or read) is what you get. Disclosing too much? I don't talk sex or politics. Ever. Otherwise... pretty much anything goes.

3. Are you an early bird or a night owl? What do you like to do in the early morning hours or late at night? How do your sleeping patterns affect the rest of your family? I USED to be a night owl, but now I go to bed sometime between 10-12. Bob and I always make it a point to go to bed together. Sometimes I get up earlier, and I try to work on my writing or LASR or editing at those times.

4. Do you lie about your age? Why or why not? Nope... I love the reaction when I tell people how old I am and they go, "No way!" I've been blessed with my father's "look younger than you are" genes. While he was in his twenties, and in the Navy, he would go to the movies in civies. When he would ask for a ticket, the cashier would automatically give him a half-price ticket. And, when I was born, he was visiting my mom in the Naval hospital. The nurse came in and said, "Oh, is this your son?" My mom (not happy at all, since she was only three months older) said, "No! This is my husband!!" At which the nurse patted her hand and said, in a soothing tone, "Well, dear, as long as y'all are happy."

A New Venture

I have started a new blog dedicated solely to books. I would love for you to go check out Book It! I'll be talking about all kinds of books, because even though I love romance (have you heard I'm co-owner of The Long and the Short of It?) I also like many other kinds of books. So...on Book It! I hope to share some of those books with you and find out what you enjoy reading.

And, if you are interested in possibly making a little money from doing things you enjoy, go here.

Tuesday Thoughts

I was able to get in touch with Karen in time, so all's good there. I'm going to let her choose from my Amazon wish list because of two things-- one, I love surprises and two, I hate making decisions. It's a match made in heaven.

We caught some interesting fish the last few days we went out...not a lot of "good" fish. A PILE of slimy catfish (including a large one), Bob caught an eel, a stingray, and a nice sheepshead. We had seafood for supper last nice. There's not much better than eating seafood that was swimming in the ocean just a short time previously.

I have some LASR work and some editing to do today, so I leave you with our fishing gallery. I hope you enjoy them. We certainly enjoyed catching them :-)

Big slimey sailcat, so named because of the large fin on his back. They are the worse to catch...fun, but they are not good eating fish and they leave a slime all over everything they touch. They are the only things I know of that make my strong husband shudder and go "ewwwwwwwwww"!

A small stingray Bob caught. They are fascinating to me to look at, but that long tail is powerful and can cause damage, so we stayed far away from it when we let him go.

We did not let this beauty go. In fact, he was our featured guest at supper last night. He wasn't a record, but at twenty inches and over four pounds, he was a very respectable member of the sheepshead family (so named because they have teeth that looks like sheeps' teeth. I should have taken pictures of them, but I forgot.)

We Have a Winner...and Monday Morning Meme

Happy Monday, everyone. I was supposed to post the winner for my BAFAB contest yesterday, but instead I was out in the boat all day with Bob, and I was wiped out when I got home. I'm actually not sure I got online to do more than clean out my inbox. But, I know you've all be waiting on tenderhooks ....nope, I just Googled.... you have all been waiting on tenterhooks (and to find out what you've been waiting on you can go to World Wide Words.

Anyway, the winner of this quarter's contest is Berry.... so, give me a shout out at maracujabr (at) hotmail (dot) com to let me know what email to use, and I will get your Amazon gift certificate off in the mail.

And, I found out I won at Karen's blog on her BAFAB contest (if I was able to get in touch with her on time). So that's fun :-)

And, speaking of Karen, today is Monday and time for

October 6th Questions:

1. Do you have certain times of the day when you have to have things done? Does your day run on a timetable? Or are you more of a laissez-faire kind of person?
I am definitely more laissez-faire, which I'm sure aggravates Marianne to no end. She is very structured (or would like to be...somehow family and animals contrive to steal that away from her). Me, I take things as they go and, as long as they get done, that's the important thing. I have found myself, though, becoming a bit more organized and that's a good thing. I'm hoping our mixture of working styles is beneficial to both of us.

2. What one word describes you on a good day? What about on a bad day? What one word would your best friend use to describe you? What one word would your significant other use to describe you? A good day: focused A bad day: moody Best friend: blonde DH: beautiful (I keep telling him he needs to have his glass prescription checked)

3. Your blog is being made into a television show. What kind of show will it be? Sit-com? Drama? How long is it? Hour? Half-hour? Sunday night movie? And most importantly, who are your show’s sponsors? Definitely not a drama... probably a sit-com. Half-hour tops. And... sponsors? Chocolate manufacturers, Estee Lauder (because I'm nothing if not a girly-girl), and (of course) The Long and the Short of It.

4. What is your favorite perfume or cologne? How often do you wear perfume or cologne? Has anyone ever told you smelled good/bad? If so, how did that make you feel? Flattered? Self-conscious? Uncomfortable? I have two favorite perfumes. My absolute very favorite is Inis, an Irish perfume. I bought the first bottle when I went to Ireland with Lianne and Kathy and fell in love with it. chanel handbags

My second favorite is a new one Bob bought me for my birthday this year, Beatiful by Estee Lauder

And, I wear perfume as often as I wear make up, which means-- every time I leave the house :-) Remember, I'm a girly-girl!

Tomorrow.. pictures from our fishing trip.... you don't want to miss the excitement.

This is a sticky note. Please scroll down for new entries

Hi, all. I realized yesterday on Karen's blog that, yes indeed, it is time again for that famous quarterly event in the blogosphere.

The short version...the first weeks of January, April, July, and October are dedicated to spread the love of reading by giving a friend a book for no good reason. You can read the long version by clicking on the button. chanel handbags

So, once again in the grand old scheme of things, I will be giving away a book (or Amazon gift card- $15 value) to one lucky reader and all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. This will stay on top until October 4 and sometime on Sunday I will post the winner. So... tell your friends....we're celebrating BAFAB Week at My World of Dreams.

Since this is BAFAB Week (and, by the way, don't forget to sign up for your chance to win a $15 Amazon gift card or book of your choice ($15 value)), I thought I'd give you Thirteen Books on My Amazon Wishlist (in no particular order)....y'know....just in case. You can see the full list here.
