August Happiness Challenge- Day Ten and Friday's Feast

First and foremost, I'm happy today is Friday and I have the day off! People, let me tell you, working outside in the heat we've had the past few days (100 degrees real temperature/ heat index 110-115) has been... well, I was going to say for the birds, but even most of the birds had the good sense to stay where it was shady and cooler! We did what we could... frequent breaks (we have an inverter and a fan we keep on our bucket truck) and drank PLENTY of water. But... I'm glad we're not working today. It's supposed to be even hotter than yesterday.

Secondly, I'm happy that Marianne has TWO short stories being released on Wednesday, August 15. Next week is going to be busy, because on Monday...nope, you'll just have to wait until Monday.

And, third, I'm especially happy I get to share something very special with y'all today. You may remember I told you about my friend Allie's book, One Night in Boston being released. Well, now she has created a truly delightful trailer for the book. Watch the trailer then, if you haven't already, go buy the book. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

And, here's the latest installment of Friday's Feast.

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of pie? I like several pies: Shoney's strawberry pie (here is a "copy cat" recipe. I haven't tried making it yet), pecan pie, pumpkin and/or sweet potato pie (but only at Thanksgiving). If I had to choose just one... probably pecan pie, as long as it's not too sweet.

Soup
Name something that made you smile this week. LOL... read my posts for the entire week. This is August Happiness Challenge, after all. It's not too late to join in the fun. Snatch the button: and join in the fun. Let me know if you do... I'd love to come visit and find out what makes you happy this month.

Salad
What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid? Stay inside where it's cool, if at all possible! If not, drink lots of water and try to get in the shade.

Main Course
You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up? Our kitchen is in the worse shape... we're slowly redecorating the rest of the house. I would probably buy the tile for my kitchen floor. I'm leaning towards white with a cornflower blue accent, if I can find it. It's one of those things... when I see it, I'll know it. I have a picture in my head... now just to try to find the reality. :-)

Dessert
Fill in the blank: My _________ says __________, but I __________.
My husband says I'm beautiful, but I think he needs his eyes checked.

Go to Friday's Feast and let us know if you are playing along this week.

  3. I seriously doubt if your husband needs his eyes checked. But let me play devil's advocate here. Let's say he does have poor eyesight. If he thinks you're beautiful and can't see you that well, imagine how enraptured he would be if he suddenly had 20/20. *G* Have a great day and stay cool. Of to...(gulp)...registration!

  4. Woops...that was supposed to read "OFF" to registration.

  9. What a grand idea for your friend to write a trailer for her book. I'm not a fan of romance novels, but if I were, I would be interested in this one. And it makes perfect sense, yes? I mean, you have trailers for movies, for TV shows, why not books?

God, the heat here in Nebraska has been stifling too. I can only get in my garden about a half hour per day and I have vegetables and herbs bursting out like busty women....
