Thank you for allowing me to share a little of my dreaming world with you.
Writing is not my full-time job, even though there are times when it feels like it is. Where this extra time in the day came from, I don’t know, but I am both thankful for it and a little bit tired. (chuckle)
I do most of my dreaming on paper on my balcony before most of my family and community are awake. It is a very peaceful time of day. There is such freshness, and it feels like a new set of opportunities is waiting to be explored.
Sometimes I am up with my hot tea, laptop, or pen and notebook before the first colors of sunrise paint the sky, and I really feel like I am ahead of the day.
It allows me to just sit, focus on the beauty of my surroundings, and create without feeling pressured.
My workspace isn’t big on my balcony, just a table and chairs but my office is vast and the view is spectacular. It gives me everything I need to search my imagination for the right scene, the perfect words, the best translation of emotions and the most effective way to get it done. Sometimes a paragraph comes from my concentrated thoughts, sometimes a page or two but I always leave feeling like I have accomplished more than if I’d slept through those moments.
Even if I don’t use any of the words or outline I wrote on that day, my mind got to travel, and I and my work in progress are better for it.
If you've had a chance to visit Temecula, California, you'd be one of many who have had the privilege of watching hot air balloons take flight during sunrise and descend at sunset, walking the grounds of one of the most beautiful rose gardens in California, and visiting a rare and noble tree that looks to have stood the test of time. You will find some of the most popular and heavily visited sights in Temecula, beautifully illustrated and captured in child-like conversation.
RJ’s Adventures in Temecula is a vibrantly colored board book featuring thirteen of Temecula’s most visited attractions. The illustrations jump off the page, offering children fun images to look at while learning more about Temecula, California’s historic sights.
Beware. Your child may ask to visit some of the attractions presented in this 20-page book, such as Professor Pennypickles' Workshop or the Sugarplum Zoo and Chocolates. Come visit for a week, but first, do your research and take this adventure around Temecula, California with RJ.
