Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: A Skill I wish I had but Don't

This is easy. I have always wanted to play the piano. Money was tight when I was growing up, so there wasn't any left over for piano lessons (not to mention a piano). We did have a chord organ that I learned to play...that was fun. But, it also explains why I can only read the treble cleft!

I took a few classes in college and really enjoyed it, but again... no piano and it was hard to find practice time amidst everything else.

But, I hope this year to be able to start taking lessons. My husband and I have discovered The Great Courses and have thoroughly been enjoying them. AND, I discovered that they actually have a piano course! Now... saving up my pennies to buy a piano!!!

What about you? What skill do you wish you had?

  1. If I had one scintilla of musicality I'd want to learn to play the piano too. I've tried. It sounds like cats mating in the wild.

  2. I'd love to be able to play the piano, too. I never learned for the same reason as you.

  3. Playing the piano is something I'd love to do too. I didn't appreciate it as a child, but I'd love to be able to now.

  4. My grandmother tried to teach me to play piano, but she always complained my hands were too small. I don't know if that's really a thing or that was her way of saying kid you're not that good. Either way, I envy those who can play piano. I hope you get to learn!

  5. Judy, I played the piano for years. I don't have the time (or passion) anymore, but I do have a grandson who is musically talented and has inherited our piano. I was listening to him play last evening. :) It made me yearn to find the time again. All the best! Excited for you!

  8. I played Clarinet, and I had a hard enough time following one line of notes. Piano plays over different clefts, yuck. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/03/wednesday-challenge-031120.html

  9. Oh, Judy, I really hope you get to do your course and buy that piano. I LOVE piano, learned for years, but now I don't have one and miss it so much. No room in my tiny house, sadly. My plan is to buy a keyboard that I can use headphones with and fold away.
Good luck with getting that skill!

  11. I ordered the piano tutorial from The Great Courses this year, too! Maybe if I ever get started we can share our progress. Aren't those courses a great investment?
