Reacting to People

Don’t take things personally. I’ve learned through therapy and growing through wisdom that what people do (or don’t do) really has nothing to do with me at all. Please, don’t get me wrong; sometimes certain people can and do ruffle my feathers. Their behavior though, usually has zero percent to do with me and one hundred percent to do with them. As well, my reaction to them is all about me and how in alignment I am with self. It's a choice for me to let them get to me just as it’s a choice for me to have a peaceful calm over myself and not to react to them.

Why do people do what they do? I think that’s a question that remains since the dawn of the human race and is so personal to the individual that the answer to that question is completely elusive. It leaves me to wonder how many people are floating around out there acting in ways that they were shown or taught or through defense mechanisms that have been built through their events of life. I think often what people do is subconscious behavior. I am not a doctor, nor am I a mental health therapist, this is merely my observation and knowledge I’ve gained through research and my own life experiences. I can attest, that for years, I acted on default, kind of like a learned response and partly on the momentum that my life experiences had created (Law of Attraction).

So, the next time someone yells at you for doing whatever or is upset because you didn’t do (x), remember that they might be dealing with something deeper. They may even be triggered to react to that situation in a certain manner. What I try to do in these situations is to realize that someone, somewhere loves this person (certainly every person is the world is loved by someone, even if estranged). Taking a breath and knowing that this person is loved by someone and that they both having beating hearts in their chest, just as I do, helps me to relate to them. When I can relate to someone on any level, I feel connected and can understand them in a different light. Once I can understand them, I can somehow understand that they may be in deep emotional pain or may have been taught in a certain way and therefore, their behavior has zero percent to do with me and one hundred percent to do with them. Now, how could I take their own behavior about themselves personally?

When skeptic Marvin meets artistic Natalie in a coffee shop on a cold October morning, the two fall fast in love, but nothing is ever as easy as it feels.

Natalie believes that a divine something is guiding her life for her greater good, and it seems to be true. She lands her dream job and she and Marvin marry at a beachside castle. However, the ease and flow of their lives start to change. At the same time that Natalie becomes pregnant, Marvin experiences strange symptoms and visits his doctor.

When faced with a diagnosis that changes everything and odd dreams of the child that hasn’t yet been born, will Marvin let go of his skepticism or will he miss out on a lifetime with his loving family?

They walk through the archway and the dancing roses appear to be just what Talie said it would be. The roses grow in such a fashion that they dance with the breeze and the aroma in the garden is what love would smell like if there were such a scent associated with it. There are thousands of vibrant colored roses up and down in rows and they do not look like typical rose bushes. The stems of the roses are different, stronger, and able to uphold the bud. Almost any color that can be thought of is here, including purple, red, blue, yellow, rainbow, black, turquoise, white, pink, orange, two and three tone colors, and a bright red-orange sparkling rose. “Who owns this place?” Marvin asks.

“There’s a plaque with the owner’s name on it over here,” Talie says leading the way.

The memorial reads: Jonathan Rutherford and Ellen Campanilli Rutherford established “Roses of the Garden” in 1913.

“Wow,” Marvin says, “They must have some secret formula regarding horticulture because I’ve never seen such roses!”
