Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge:Favorite Food and How I Use It

Today's topic (favorite food and how I use it) is a bit of a stumper for me. My favorite food of all time is passion fruit. I first had it in the last century when I went on a trip to Brazil. In fact, I liked it so much that when I signed up for AOL later, I used the Portuguese for passion fruit (maracuja) as part of my sign in (and still do - a side note. When I went back to Brazil later and was teaching English, my students were amused at my email address and, upon further reflection, if someone told me that their email address was apple@email.com, I would probably find it equally amusing).

I never cooked with it, although I know it was possible. I loved eating it... or scooping out the seeds and adding just a bit of water to make a drink. To this day, there's a taqueria here in town that serves passion fruit juice and I order it every time I go. It's especially nice to drink it at night right before bed because it has a mild sedative effect.

But, just because *I* don't cook with, doesn't mean I can't share a recipe (the Internet is a wonderful thing). Here are a couple of recipes of food/drink I tried in Brazil (and if I can ever find passion fruit in the stores, I'll be sure to try my own hand at them):

No cook passion fruit mousse
Passion Fruit Caipirinha

If you have passion fruit where you live, give these a try (and let me know.. I might come visit!)
