Thank you for allowing me to post on your blog today.
I would like to tell you about the outside of my writing space.
As you can see from the photos, I have a lovely view of the Willamette River in Portland Oregon. There is usually a lot of boat activity on this particular river: Dragon boats, barges, kayaks, cruise boats, and others. I never know what I’ll see next. Plus the marina is close by as well. And across the river is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry with a submarine docked as an exhibit.
The trails along the river are fantastic for jogging, walking, biking, and skate boarding, or roller blading. It is easy enough to cross the river by one of the many bridges and then continue on the other side.
Along part of the trail, there are many restaurants, cafes, and a spa and salon. Most of the restaurants have outdoor seating during the warm season. There is one restaurant that claims to be Portland’s only floating restaurant and I can see it clearly from my window. Near that restaurant, a small park with reflecting pools, benches, and trees, makes a nice resting stop to people watch or enjoy the boats passing by.
From a bedroom window, we can see the aerial tram that takes visitors, employees, tourists, etc. to the top of the hill. There are several hospitals situated there, so the hill is nicknamed, “Pill Hill”.
Public transportation via the streetcar is only a couple of blocks away. And light rail is about a 10 minute walk away. No need for a car to get around this beautiful city of roses. But it is nice to have one for those longer trips to the ocean or mountains.
Portland’s motto is: “Keep Portland Weird”. I think I’m finally home. Feel free to comment on the photos or ask any questions. Thank you for reading.
