Oh, how I wish I could have been asked about my study three months from now! My husband and I are in the process of redoing our house, and the study is next on the list. Well, that’s okay. Here’s a picture of my writing space as it is now.

Let me point out a few things. First, do you see the copy of Return Engagement on the desk? Super book. You should read it! The pictures on the wall are pictures of facilities that my husband built. He’s an engineer.

Notice also the bendy straw. This is perhaps a bit strange, but that’s my tapping or thinking straw. I’ve noticed that I can think better if I have a little straw to twirl and tap. My family laughed at me, but hey, they play with my straw at every opportunity.

There are two monitors on the desk, and I don’t need them both, but my husband bought me one that he thought was better than the original.

Do you see part of the lamp in the top left of the picture? That’s something we bought in the 1970’s, and we’re still using it because it’s the perfect size for the space. We’re also using it because I think it’s pretty.

Beside the lamp, you can see a blue glass rabbit. This is a souvenir I bought at an antique store when we went on vacation. It cost a grand total of .25. Yeah, I’m cheap.

I know you see my Valentine frogs. My husband gave them to me because my nickname for him is little frog. I guess we’re frog and frogette. LOL.

The rose is from my grandson, Simon, and the paperweight on the desk was a gift from my step-sister.

One of the reasons we’re redoing the room is because my husband shares it with me. The study began life as a small bedroom, but once my children grew up and moved away, the room was vacant. I moved in my desk and claimed it. It was perfect for one person, but my husband didn’t like being downstairs alone. “I’ll move my stuff in too,” he said, so now we are back to back and often bump each other. The issue will go away with our renovation.

As far as my view outside the window goes, I love my summer view best of all. In the summer I have colorful, cheerful flowers to look at. See the window on the left? That’s my study, and I can see the flowers from my desk.

My house faces a street lined with houses, and I don’t have permission from the owners to use pictures of their houses, so I’d better not post them.

I hope you’ve enjoyed peeking into my space. While I’m thinking about it, do you think I should try flowers in only one color this year, or do you like it the way it is?
