What a cool request! You want to see inside my writing space and outside of it.

I’m so fortunate that my husband is talented with a nail and hammer. My study was a former “breeze way” between our house and garage. The former owners closed it in by placing sliding glass doors at each end, but that was all they did. The flooring had been spaced planks of wood, like a porch. Considering we have a crawl space beneath the house, the musty smell of dirt would fill the house. It was horrible. So my husband placed plywood and then hardwood over it, changed the sliding doors into French doors and put up sheet rock on the walls (one still has the beautiful brick like the outside of my house) and painted them a soft yellow. He then resized my bookshelves and presto! I have a beautiful study.

My desk is a real Victorian Spinet desk. I really need to buy myself another sturdier desk before I break this one again. Yes, I broke the leg. Was totally an accident. I swear. The only reason it is being used is that it’s the perfect size for a laptop. While the large cabinet you see in the pictures opens into another desk, and it holds my desktop. That computer is almost ten years old and has my software for my website on it.

Besides my TV (above one set of French doors), DVD/VCR combo and sound surround system, I have shelves upon shelves of books. And that’s not even all of the books I have in the house. Sadly, they had to be thinned out to fit into the study.

Of course, you can tell I took pictures during the Christmas season, but I love my little neon green tree. It looks so much better in person especially when you drive by and see it in the window.

Oh and outside my study in the front you can see the second hole of the golf course across the street and one of their ponds. And in the back, is the screened in porch, perfect in the spring to take my laptop and sit and write while the birds chirp around me.

Well, that’s my little tour. Nothing too fancy, but I’m happy to be out of my living room where I use to have my desk. Earphones came in handy then. Thanks for asking.

Now for my books. The latest book that was released in e-format on December 26 by Avon Red is CIRCLE OF DECEPTION and here’s the blurb for it.

Carla Swafford’s erotic Circle series comes to an exhilarating finale as the team of sexy spies and assassins goes undercover—under the covers.

After disappearing days before her wedding to fellow Circle agent Rex Drago, Abby Rodriguez discovered that trying to reclaim a life—and a love—lost is a whole lot harder than she thought. When her family’s safety is threatened by an arms dealer, Abby must go undercover with the one man who sees right through her and play the scariest role yet: husband and wife.

Mission or no mission, Rex Drago wants answers from his ex-fiancé. Forced to play along as a rival arms dealer and the husband he once wanted to be, Rex is finding it tough to stay professional—especially when Abby is just as hot as ever. And when they find themselves in a very intimate position, Abby and Rex must act the part—or risk blowing their cover entirely.

  3. Isn't it great to have a handy hubby? My hubby has been wielding his hammer and nails for the past couple of weeks rebuilding a shed that we lost in a fire a few months ago. I'd much rather have a great study with French doors!

  6. Thanks, Mary. I'm just afraid of breaking it again. It can't take my everyday work. :-)

  7. It sure is nice, Catherine. My hubby can do anything he sets his mind to. He's presently building our grandsons a tree house. Someone asked the other day on seeing a picture of it, if that was our new house. Yes. He doesn't do things half way. LOL!

  8. Funny thing, Ingeborg, he is the type that would come over to help. :-)

Years ago when we lived near one of his sisters (he has 3), he was over there more, helping her, than he was at home. He's a good brother.

  16. Me too, Chelsea. I'm one of those strange people when riding in the passenger seat at night stare into people's windows to see what they have hanging on the walls. LOL! Note that means I zoom by and don't slow down to stop. Thankfully I'm not that weird. :-)

  17. Carla,

I have pics of my office posted on 12/31. Love your office, but I think I like the view of your golf course better than mine--more trees which I adore. Good luck on your book. Sounds wonderful. Joyce

  18. Thanks, Joyce. Are you amazed as I am by how golfers really and truly play in all kinds of weather? Glow in the dark for night play and bright colored ones for snow. LOL!

  21. Love your study Carla. We just bought a house & the previous owners turned the breezeway into a dining room. I totally understand the musty dirt smell & how wonderful it is that your husband has the hammer & nail talent to fix that flaw for you.

Kathy, he did fixed the problem with the flooring. Thank you!

Shannon, some days are better than others. As long as I don't sit in that big brown chair. If I do, I'm out like a light. LOL! Thanks!
