The Writer's View: Robin Danner

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Robin will be awarding sword earrings and a knight figurine to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the banner above to see the other stops on the tour.

I would love to be able to say that I have a fancy smancy office with state of the art computer equipment. Sadly no. My “office” is in the living room, where I try to drown out the sounds of my husband and three sons (and the television) as I write. I thought about working in another room, but with so much time being devoted to writing, I feel better being in the midst of my family. Even though I do have to wear headphones as I work!

My day job also requires me to sit at a computer, so I probably spend about twelve to thirteen hours every weekday in front of a screen. I even have a callous on my wrist to prove it! I really need a new mouse pad. Mine has no cushioning whatsoever.

I don’t really have any writer-ly habits when it comes to working. I just plop down at the computer and start typing. I usually have a baby (or two!) in my lap as I work, and the constant distractions that are part and parcel of having three toddler-aged boys. So I squeeze my writing in on those rare moments when everyone is settled and I can put the words in my head on “paper”.

Eventually, when the boys are older, I have plans to make their “toy room” my office. Until then, I’m going to keep pecking away at my keyboard, surrounded by the chaotic mix of my family.

Thanks for having me!
