Today, BTT is a writing challenge and I really like me a writing challenge. So... here it is (and it's going to be interesting, I think, because the book nearest me is a research book I'm using for a short story I'm working on...sigh.... okay.)

Pick up the nearest book. (I’m sure you must have one nearby.)
Turn to page 123.
What is the first sentence on the page?
The last sentence on the page?
Now . . . connect them together….
(And no, you may not transcribe the entire page of the book–that’s cheating!)

The Germans used this method of killing off one plane at a time all the way into the target and then back out again. ... No more raids deep into Germany could now be run.-- The United States in World War II by Don Lawson.

Uh-huh.

Okay....

The Germans used this method of killing off one plane at a time all the way into the target and then back out again. The Allies persevered, sending more and more planes, finding different routes the Germans didn't have marked. Eventually the weather changed. Snow came in and heavy clouds blanketed the sky. No more raids deep into Germany could now be run.

Okay, that stinks. Cheating here and reaching behind me blindly for a novel.

From Naomi by Douglas Clegg. (BTW, I had the honor of interviewing Doug when I edited "ShadowKeep Ezine.")

He could only run down the tunnel to the fire where Scabber kept the soup boiling and cover his ears so he wouldn't hear the Serpent howl when the Forbidden was finished. ... "Change," Romeo said ever mournfully, knowing that it was just a matter of sounding the wind through the cracks of a cave to get fat-pocketed men like this to give him some of their jinglies and cracklies.

Hmmmmmmm.....okay.... that's what I get for cheating. I'm going to check out other participants now. Have a great Thursday, y'all.
