My office space is small. There’s room for my desk and a large book shelf, and a rug on the floor where my 180 pound Fila Brasiliero Mastiff likes to lay so she can be near me. Some days, though, I like to take my laptop to the kitchen table, the living room sofa, or the bedroom depending on my mood. A change of scenery every now and then helps to restore my mind and my thought process gets a nice reboot. The window in front of my desk gives me a great view since it looks out on my yard where my horse lives. Beyond the yard is a grove of oak trees and in the spring and summer, it’s green and full of flowers. That view is something I can look at all day long. It clears my mind, resets my soul, and relaxes me. Especially when Horse sees me looking at him and he comes to look at me. I’ve always had animals of various types but having a horse is the best one of all. Horse is an older boy, calm and gentle but with enough colt in him to get his heels kicking up during a storm or any time he’s feeling his oats. One of my favorite scents in the whole world is horse flesh. I go out and pet him, brush him, kiss on him, we breathe into one another’s nostrils, and I bury my face in his neck and breathe in all that horsey goodness. I do a lot of reading and research and sometimes, that causes my mind to wander away from writing because I get so interested in the research. When I’m writing fiction, usually historical romance, I get really lost in the research because I like my storyline to be accurate and so real the reader feels as if they are reading an actual account of history. Once I have the historical facts, I insert my characters into the setting and then flesh out the secondary characters and the entire storyline so the facts and fiction blend seamlessly together. Whether in my office, or in my room, writing is the one thing I can do that takes me away from the toils and worries of the day, at least for a few hours where I can be anywhere in the world, any time in history, and visit with friends who have just been waiting for my arrival.
Life is the journey we take on our way to Heaven. It's not easy, it's not pretty, and sometimes, it's downright difficult. However, we have an Advocate unlike any other, Jesus Christ. In Shine His Light, the author uses scriptures and her own life lessons to help others get through the bumpy spots.

The gospels tell the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by the devil. He was shown food and riches and all He had to do was bow down and worship satan. Of course, that sounds ridiculous because Jesus already had everything satan offered. He knew who He was and didn’t have to prove anything. He couldn’t be tempted to show off to the devil a little bit either, which is what I think the devil wanted. The devil knew who Jesus was too, but he couldn’t resist trying to get the better of the Son of God; satan does the same thing to us.
He is not too concerned with those who don’t know the Lord personally, his target is those of us who do. He wants us to fail, he wants us to look at our situations, and at what we don’t have, instead of at Jesus, who gives us salvation and everlasting life. He wants us to look at the bait and forget about the hook. The devil can only tempt us when we let our lusts and desires take control, but if we keep our focus on Jesus, He will always stand between us and the devil.
