Steady Burn is the 3rd book in the epic white warrior series.

Hathum has left Azrel for dead. Seemingly a long way from recovery after his attack, Azrel suddenly gets a vision of Yarin, the true leader of the Gleo'gwyns. He is being held prisoner in a decrepit dungeon and being mercilessly tortured by a Shadow solider.

Azrel realizes in that fearful instant that the world would share Yarin's fate if Hathum and the Shadow Gods defeat her.

“Send out the next prisoner!”

All at once, a hush came over the crowd and an awkward, uncomfortable silence loomed. The cage door opened and I stepped out. I was offered a blade no bigger than a pocket knife as a weapon. I sneered at it and continued walking onto the sand without it.

Every single being in the crowd was on their feet trying to get a look at me. Some were moving down closer to the sand pit, pressing slightly against the boarded boundaries. A bunch stood on their seats; others got on the tips of their toes to see over taller shoulders. Bodies started leaning forward and crowding around the bottom of the bleachers. I saw a few people start to whisper and point to me, but the silence was still deafening.

So, Glugnus had spread the word about me being here. This whole land knew I was here and my regime had stayed hidden. My heart sank a little when I realized why—they didn’t fully trust me. They wouldn’t dare expose themselves until they knew their leader could lead and protect them. They didn’t know me.

I sighed as I reached the center of the sand and faced the tall gates. The air was hot and thick and I immediately began to sweat. The intense pressure of the crowd’s eyes on me didn’t help much either. While I waited, I felt a tingle at the back of my neck, as if familiar eyes were on me. I turned around and my heart plummeted to the souls of my feet.

    1. HA! Thanks for asking, Catherine. :) I'm not sure how I manage actually. LOL It's just the story that came to me...the really, really, REALLY long story that came to me. :D The entire series is already hand written out in 27 (5 subject) notebooks, so when I actually decided to publish, the story was obviously far too long to fit in one book. I decided to break it up into sections. In doing that, certain breaking points just looked and felt right, with each book having a proper beginning, middle/climax, and satisfying enough ending. It turned out to make 7 books. :) Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the excerpt. :)
