The Writers's View: Jamie Salisbury

This post is part of a Virtual Book Tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Jamie will be giving away a $25 Amazon GC to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the banner above to see the other stops on her tour.

To look at the inside of my writing space one would find it cluttered. The desk is shoved into the corner of the room, treated like a stepchild. Originally the room was used for storage and overflow. Then it slowly changed and became the guestroom, the queen size mattress in another corner of this small room. When guests are not expected it doubles as a catch all. The corner and back wall still have boxes lined against it. The boxes have been gone through; they sit waiting to be unpacked and their contents used.

The desk holds the key to everything. Alongside the lap top are various notebooks and scraps of paper. The key to my ideas; all are neatly lined up, waiting patiently to be used. To the right of the lap top sits the printer, taking up its own shelf. It is well used, but reliable.

Looking outside everything is green this time of year. The room faces out on the backyard, which is bordered with a thick green space of trees. During the summer when the foliage is covering the trees, one cannot see through to the other side. The raw images of where, not too many months ago, a tornado tore through and either destroyed or damaged homes is evident. I can tell the weather without having to look but the way the trees are acting; blowing to the side in a storm, calm on days like today; sunny and hot. Although the ground is not visible from this room, deer, turkeys and rabbits have been known to come out in the cool of the evening to play.

This space is my refuge, my escape from reality. A place I can go to get away and dream.

About the Author: Jamie Salisbury cannot imagine a time when she did not write. A skill that has served her well throughout her professional career. Public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, and special event planning all elevated her passion for writing.

An avid reader of histories, biographies, and romance, it's only natural that part of the products of her pen are historical romances featuring characters so authentic they spring forth from the page and shake the reader's hand. Many of her teen years were spent in Chile, but she and her family were forced out of the country when the political climate demanded it.

Taking the plunge to take her writing professional came as a result of a series of foot surgeries that left her with a lot of time on her hands. Unable to walk great distances at the time, she started writing as a way to pass the time. Her experiences of how dramatically her life had changed at first. Then the new world of e-publishing inspired her to digitally publish her first novel, Perpetual Love, rather than relegate it to the dreaded drawer. She couldn't be happier with her decision to grab the publishing industry by the shoulders and force it to pay attention to all she has to offer.

Two more novels have followed: Blood Lust and Tudor Rose, with more to follow soon.

Jamie now lives outside of Atlanta, but the love for travel has never abandoned her. Adventure, exploration, and intrigue permeate her prose to the core.

In those few moments of the day when she's not writing or thinking about writing, she finds knitting a way to relax and unwind. Other interests include photography, equestrianism, reading, and of course traveling.

Jamie hopes her writing will entertain, enlighten, and inspire others to pick up the pen and pursue their own dreams. She loves to be contacted by readers, writers, and history buffs.

Recently divorced at a time when most women are enjoying their children being grown, Anne Harrison finds her life in chaos. At the urging of her forever-friend Kat, Anne moves back to Seattle, her childhood home, to get back her former confidence and make a fresh start.

Confident, creative, and a successful businessman, Geoffrey Quinn has depths not immediately apparent to those who come into contact with that cocky, devilishly handsome exterior.

The last thing either is looking for is a relationship. Anne finds Geoff highly irritating (and young!) at best, while Geoffrey finds her magnetic and wise. To his amusement, she futilely attempts to dismiss him each time they cross paths, and sparks fly.

Watch as this seemingly unsuitable, disparate duo lights a fiery, compelling attraction neither sees coming. But who will get burned?

  4. Rebecca,
Yes, the cover is stunning, isn't it! It is my favorite of all my book covers. It was done by Fiona Jayde of Fiona Jayde Media.
And yes, the inside of the book are as good as the outside!

  5. Hey there!
Last day of the blog tour...Sad to see it end. It's been completely awesome and I'm so glad I was able to be there with you throug it all :D
    You're going places, Jamie! ;)

Ahh...The writing space. Yours sounds amazing, relaxing and with a good view. I bet it's just lovely to write there when it rains.
I don't have a desk. I can't sit on a chair without getting uncomfortable. Normally I'm either on the settee. On the floor. Outside or on my bed, right in the corner so I can look out across the open fields.
    Hugs

  7. OMG...a tornado! How scary! Hope you and yours came out without a scratch, dent or ding!

I enjoy reading about the places, or caves, authors spend most of their time. Sounds like, in spite of the clutter behind and around you, you still have a place to let your mind wander down those beautiful paths.

Can't believe your tour is done. It has been great fun getting to know you and your book. Hope to see you again soon

    Hiya!
Yes, I'm quite sad to see this end. It has been a ton of fun. And you certainly were diligent about following!
The only problem with writing at my desk is that my bad foot will swell - I have a lap top and I'd love to get another recliner so I can write and sit with my foot propped up! TOO hot here to sit outside unless it's early morning.
    Thanks!

Actually I've moved since this was written. I now have an office and it overlooks the trees in the backyard. Very tranquil.
Came through that tornado fine - Thank Goodness!!
I've started the sequel to Timeless Sojourn - so yes I'll be back - plus you can always find me at my blog, FB, etc.
    Thanks!

It sounds like a lovely setting for your writing! Maybe a footstool or some other device to prop up your foot would work? I guess it depends on the configuration of your desk, though...

  12. I love having a "multipurpose" room: guest/cat/ironing/scrapbooking/extra closet/wrapping/etc. room. My hubby calls it the junk room...but I like to remind him that we have a junk DRAWER and a "multipurpose" room. LOL.

  13. Anonymous - Good suggestions for propping my foot up - had been using my shredder (lol) but it's not real wide. May have to find a small stool.
    Thanks.

  14. Catherine Lee - I don't mind having a room serve as a multi-tasking room - it was (I have since moved)a small room to begin with. The closet was stacked with Christmas stuff, boxes unpacked. It was a tight fit. And I didn't have access to the attic or under the house.
    All is better now! Thanks!
