Wednesday Blogging Challenge: Favorite Quote from a Book

I'm honestly not sure I can pick just one favorite quote from a book... but I can narrow it down to my top five (maybe) - in no particular order.

1. from The Velveteen Rabbit:

“It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

2. from Anne of Green Gables:

Why must people kneel down to pray? If I really wanted to pray I’ll tell you what I'd do. I'd go out into a great big field all alone or in the deep, deep woods and I'd look up into the sky—up—up—up—into that lovely blue sky that looks as if there was no end to its blueness. And then I'd just feel a prayer.

3. from Outlander:

“Overall, the library held a hushed exultation, as though the cherished volumes were all singing soundlessly within their covers.”

4. from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn:

“From that time on, the world was hers for the reading. She would never be lonely again, never miss the lack of intimate friends. Books became her friends and there was one for every mood.”

5. from The Witches:

“It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like, so long as somebody loves you.”
