Top Ten Tuesdays: Books I Could Re-read Forever

As you may, or may not, know... I am not the world's greatest "re-readers." For the most part, once I've read the book, I'm ready to move on. Too many books out there to waste time reading one where I already know the ending, right?

However, I do have a few that I do re-read... not every year, not even every decade, but these are the books (or series) that I enjoy dipping back into... it's like meeting an old friend (and in many cases enough time has passsed between reading that, while I remember the big things, there are less important parts that are a welcome memory).

In no particular order, here are ten books I don't mind re-reading now and then:

This is one of the first books I loved from my childhood. I so wanted to be Jo scribbling away in her attic or eating apples up in the tree!

Another one from my childhood. My grandmother sent me the entire set one year for Christmas ... I think I had them all read before New Years! Anne Shirley was definitely a kindred spirit, and I enjoy visiting back with her from time to time.

The next three are all from the same author-- one of my all time favorite authors as well as theologian: C.S. Lewis.

This book is one that I reread every couple of years. No matter what's going on in my life, I can always find something in this little book (less than 100 pages) that resonates with me.

This was the first C.S. Lewis book I read and, I have to admit, I love the entire series! There are so many layers to it that I discover something new each time I read it.

Like The Chronicles of Narnia, the series that begins with this book has so many layers that it is not only a pleasure to revisit it, but also edifying.

A great friend of Lewis' wrote the next book the begins a series we are all familiar with.

About every five years or so, I'm ready to go on an adventure! And this is the series I always choose when I'm adventuresome! Who can have better traveling companions?

The first time I read this book was in French class - Le Petit Prince. It was and is one of the most charming books of all times! I've not read it in French for over 30 years.. maybe it's time for a rereading in French as well as English.

Definitely time to reread this one with the movie coming out! It is such a good book.. if you've not read it, I definitely encourage you to.

I absolutely love this book.. it's brilliantly funny and irreverent. How can you not love something that tells you "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

This is a wonderful book.... 'nuff said.
