My World of Dreams. Sigh. The title of this blog alone implies so many possibilities. And you know, as a storyteller, I think that’s what grabs readers. Taking dreams—good or bad, happy and sad, tense or romantic—and creating a story that entertains and stays with a reader long after the last page has been turned.

But if you ask me about an author’s view, specifically the view outside my window, I have to tell you that it provides some of my best inspiration. It’s a place I use to sit and think, to let my mind wander, or to just be. You should know that I write in two places: on the train to and from work in NYC, and at home, at the kitchen table looking out at an incredibly pretty and peaceful backyard. Both are great places for me to write (yep, I can actually focus on a train!), but it’s my backyard that soothes me into a place that really brings my writing to life. See, I’m a very perceptive person. I can look at the clouds breezing through a bright blue sky at the beach, or hear the babbling waterfall from my koi pond, or smell the sweet scent of a freshly mowed lawn and instantly become drawn into another world. For me, there is nothing like being one with nature, and that’s when the whole creative side of me really sparks to life.

One of my favorite things to do is to pop in my ear buds and take my writing playlist outside to the koi pond. Most often with a glass of red wine or a wonderful Belgian beer. There, I’ll listen to Enya or Marcomé, Eric Clapton or The Righteous Brothers, Lifehouse or Adele. And my mind will take me where it wants, to the deepest secrets of my characters, to the challenges they’ll face, to the rights and wrongs they’ll do. And I’ll tuck those ideas away in my mind for the next time I return to the kitchen table to write.

And when winter comes, I’ll do the same by the living room fireplace, overlooking a front yard blanketed by snow.

So that, my friends, is my writing world. And it’s one I truly love.

Do you have a favorite place? I’d love to know.

Hidden memories. Buried secrets. Resurrected revenge.

Psychologist Lottie Morgan knows something is wrong when she relives memories of a lover she's never had. At first she attributes them to fever-induced dreams. But when the fever disappears and the visions don’t, Lottie realizes something else is going on

Then she meets Galen. Their first encounter is as intense as it is eye-opening, and his revelation that they shared a passionate relationship thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt entices Lottie into wanting to learn more about her past. Her decision, however, comes at a price. Galen may hold the answers but he could destroy the devoted, lifelong relationship Lottie has with her current lover, David.

It also could mean her death—again.

Someone is protecting millennia-old secrets, determined to keep them buried while exacting a revenge on Lottie for a mistake made a very long time ago. A mistake she could be destined to repeat.

Take a trip to mysterious ancient Egypt, where Lottie becomes caught between two lifetimes, two men, and long-buried deceptions. Hank Phillippi Ryan, Agatha, Anthony and Macavity-winning author, calls this paranormal suspense "Inventive, original and thought-provoking; this mystically romantic mystery will instantly intrigue."

About the Author:
Terri looks for any opportunity to make stuff up. She thinks anything that can’t so easily be explained is worth an extra look and often makes a great story. She loves red wine, scotch, sunrises, Ancient Egypt, the beach—and a host of other stuff that would take too much real estate to talk about. The youngest of five children, Terri lives with her husband and son on Long Island. And, in her next life, if she hasn’t moved on to somewhere else, she wants to be an astronomer. Terri’s fascinated with the night skies almost as much as she’s fascinated with ancient Egypt.

Terri is a member of member of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America, and you can read about her at http://terriponce.com.

  7. Vitajex - I don't know what I love more about my koi pond: the fish or the waterfall. It's lovely to listening to the tinkling sounds of water and the birds chirping when it's warm out.
