The Writer's View

Thanks so much for having me over today. I love connecting with people, especially readers and I also love showing off the beautiful landscape that surrounds my life! So thanks for the opportunity!

I live in New Zealand, out west near the top of the north island to be more exact and the view from my office is all about trees. Lotsa trees. The third bedroom in our wee 1950 bungalow is my office, along with the resting place of all our files, printers and general tat. But set into one wall is a lovely pair of French doors, affording me a view out into the bush that surrounds our place. It’s a peaceful view, an always changing one at that. This morning for example, as spring sneaks its fingers round the world and tries to get a hold, the sun has snuck in through the mist and is promising to bring a little heat to the day.

Inside at the moment however, all is a different story because we’ve just bought a section and (arg) will be embarking on building a new place in the not too distant future. It means we’re selling up and packing up so inside my office, as I sit at my desk and type this – boxes and boxes of books surround me. I had five bookcases full - okay so I’m a book junkie – and now I’ve had to put them somewhere!

It will all be worth it hopefully though, because when we start building, I get my own office! A room of my very own. And the view from there not only has trees, but also has a sneaky peak of the sea. Yum. Given that the last five books I’ve written have all been set on or very near the water, it’s probably a good thing – gotta keep that inspiration juice flowing ;-)

I do feel very lucky. Plenty of writers still work from a desk tucked into the corner of a bedroom I know, and to have a whole room – a whole room – all to myself is going to be bliss! I may have to turn my desk around though so I concentrate on putting words on the page though rather than staring wistfully out the window.

I’m interested to hear what people think makes a great writing space? Is a view helpful do you think, or does it just steal your concentration? I guess when you’re wrapped up in the world of characters, the world outside hardly even matters.

Thanks again for having me
X Michele

Felicity Williams can't remember the last five years thanks to an accident that wiped out her memory. She fled her old life in hopes of starting fresh and found refuge working on a cruise ship. But her past is coming for her…

Rick McCarthy wakes after a climbing accident to discover that his business partner and fiancĂ©e has quit her job and disappeared. He’s trying to accept that she’s run out on him, but now he needs her signature to close a deal that could literally be life or death. He’ll go to any extreme to get what he needs…even if that means becoming someone else to win her back. But a little lie becomes a large mess when they’re stranded on a deserted island together, and old misunderstandings might ruin their chance at new love…

About the Author:
Michele de Winton loves sunshine, chardonnay, (preferably together), beaches, trees, great vegetarian food, steamy writing and happy endings. She’s been known to be an all round arty type and it's no wonder that her first romance had a little sparkle of the stage tucked into its pages. Being a writer was not was she was supposed to be when she ‘grew up' but then neither was being a dancer. Sometimes her performing past jumps out of the dress up box and requires attention. But most of the time she’s content to stay in her PJs. All day. And she also thinks that chocolate can solve pretty much everything. Her debut romance The Boss and Her Billionaire hit the top 100 Bestsellers on Barnes and Noble in its first week and continues to do well. Love Lost and Found is the second in that series.
