Travel writer Julia Sullivan lives life in fast-forward. She jet sets to Europe and the Caribbean with barely a moment to blink or sleep. But too many mishaps and missed deadlines have Julia on the verge of being fired.

With a stern warning, and unemployment looming, she's offered one last chance to rescue her career. Julia embarks on an unlikely journey to the ‘Heart of Dixie’—Eufaula, Alabama—home to magnificent mansions, sweet tea, and the annual Pilgrimage.

Julia arrives, soon charmed by the lovely city and her handsome host, but her stay is marred by a shocking discovery. Can Julia's story save her career, Eufaula, and the annual Pilgrimage?

Kudos to Lauren Clark. Dancing Naked in Dixie is a pure delight! Julia, bless her heart, has mishap after mishap--which had me alternately laughing out loud or commiserating with her (I've had my own run-in with fire ants!) Lauren captures the spirit of Eufala, Alabama, and made this Southern gal feel right at home. The book is pure perfection...and I certainly hope Lauren intends to go back to Eufala in another book--PD needs her OWN story!!

That's always good, when a secondary character makes you want a sequel...

  6. I, too, have a fire ant story. I had just completed my graduate degree and had diploma in hand. My hubby was taking a picture of me, posing under a palm tree, holding my diploma. Immediately after the picture, I started feeling these burning bites and saw that I was standing on a fire ant mound. You never saw someone kick off their shoes and rip off a pair of pantyhose SO FAST! I must have looked like a crazy woman. My hubby didn't know right away what was happening until I managed to get in the words FIRE ANTS between squeals. I smile at the thought now, but it was scary then.

Thanks Karen ! The secondary characters are tough ... sometimes they can "try" to take over the story, but without them the novel would be flat and not as exciting. It's like juggling one ball versus 6 ... harder but the audience likes it a LOT more ... LOL

Oh, Catherine! That is hilarious :) I didn't know what fire ants were either. I just had a few nibbles today in the driveway ... I kicked my shoes off and ran for the porch, slapping at my ankles along the way!!! Hope the neighbors didn't see :) Lauren

  11. Secondary characters are sometimes more interesting then the hero and heroine and have more to say. This book sounds amazing. Can't wait to read more about Julia.

Thank you Joanne ~ Sometimes, I think the secondary characters have all of the fun ... I stress more about the main characters "doing" or "saying" the right things ... and am much more loose and free with the supporting cast :)

Glad you are looking forward to reading Dixie!! Lauren
